On Saturday, June 2, Search and Rescue members participated in Swiftwater Familiarization training.  Led by Instructor Scott Gabler and Coordinator Greg Almos, the team learned rope techniques for assisting and rescuing victims caught in several swiftwater scenarios. They also learned basic water safety and first aid procedures as applied in and around the water.  Saturday’s training was cut short when the team, preparing to resume stillwater training in Lake Tahoe, responded and assisted in recovery and medical treatment of a drowning victim.  The team plans on continuing do develop skills in this field in the future.
